Announced 2D / 3D round -trip action THE PLUCKY SQUIRE. Pokemon Sword Shield Art Director develops independently

Devolver Digital announced The Plucky Squire on June 10. Compatible platforms are PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch/PlayStation 5/Xbox Series X | S. Scheduled to be released in 2023.

THE PLUCKY SQUIRE is an action game that travels between 2D and 3D worlds. The player confronts the villain HUMGRUMP as a picture book hero Jot. In the game play, in addition to 2D/3D actions, it seems that there are puzzle elements and various mini-challenge.

At one point, Humgrump realizes that he is a villain in a picture book and is destined to be defeated in the story. So Humgrump drives the hero Jot out of the page and turned the story into something that is convenient. Can JOT rescue his friends from Humgrump's devil and regain the happy ending of picture books? A battle beyond dimension begins.

In game play, 2D actions in the world of picture books and 3D actions in the world outside the picture book are developed. In the world of picture books drawn with vivid graphics, you can enjoy horizontal scrolling and look down-type action. In addition, it seems that mini-game elements such as boxing and shooting are included.

Then, when you jump out of the world of picture books, it will quickly turn into a 3D action game. The desk where the picture book was placed seems to be the stage. The trailer also contains gameplay in the outside world. In addition to combat and puzzle elements, you can see how they jump into a pattern such as a mug and shift to 2D action again. The game play that changes rapidly while going back and forth between 2D/3D is likely to be the characteristic of this work.

All Possible Futures works on this work. It is a studio by James Turner, a Pokémon designer and art director of Pokemon Sword Shield, who was once a game freak and a developer Jonathan Biddle. Speaking of Turner, he joined Ginnias Sonority and joined Game Freak. The first Westerner who designed Pokemon design. He has worked on pop and unique Pokemon, such as Vivanilla, Golg, Aurot, and Massiboon. He seems to have left Pokemon development and created his own studio.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Biddle has developed titles such as SWORDS OF DITTO in the past. It is a look-down action game that features Cartoon-style 2D graphics. Both graphic design skills may have been fully demonstrated in The Plucky Squire. I want to look forward to the characteristic game play that changes the 2D/3D smoothly.

The Plucky Squire will be released in 2023 for PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch/PS5/Xbox Series X | S.
