The peaceful Christmas days are the perfect time to discover new favorite games. Mango author Marko Celtic recommends you here the 10 best single-player shooter of recent years, which are to have less than €20. Every game here is a perfect Christmas gift -. For others or for yourself
If you are over the Christmas holidays about with their parents to visit, it can sometimes be very boring. In your old bedroom perhaps is no longer the best PC. Maybe you have even your laptop with you.
Therefore, just the quiet Christmas period are great for trying out the best indie shooter. The offer not only great action that you may not find so in AAA games. They are also cheap and most should probably also run on older hardware problems — checked in doubt but rather once the system requirements of the games.
Thus, they are not only buying for yourself — they are perfect gifts for other shooter lovers in your life.
About the author Marko Celtic: I am not only an avid shooter lovers. Since my earliest childhood I play everything that I find almost interesting. It would not surprise me if I played in all the years more than 1,000 games — even if I will probably never know the real number. The more mechanical depth and creativity a game has, the more enthusiastic I am accordingly.
Privately, I'm away from gambling like a shooter expert. With legends of the shooter community as Kodak I am therefore in frequent contact. I will help in several discords normal players as well as streamers and Esports professionals in finding the right settings and equipment shooter. This results in an expertise for all the subtleties of the shooter genre.
Therefore, I recommend here are my 10 favorite shooter of the last year that you play in single player can. These are all also have no Christmas offer for under €20. These are not just personal favorites — also on Steam these games are the warmest recommended.
All games are currently on offer: In the current Steam-sale, which runs from 22 December 2021 until 05 January 2022, all listed here are all games have also cheaper. The current deal prices I listed in addition to the normal prices.
This should note her: This list has no ranking — with one exception. Number one is actually my favorite game from the list. If I could only choose a game from the list, I would take that. From point 2, the recommendations are accordingly listed in alphabetical order. Prices and Steam ratings were checked on 22 December 2021st
1. ULTRA KILL — endless mechanical depth

Steam Rating: extremely positive — 99% (via Steam) with currently about 16,000 votes

Trailer
ULTRA KILL is by far the best shooter I've played in recent years. And, although it is still in the Early Access. The site of the game is DevilMayQuake, and that is equal to the best summary of ULTRA KILL: As in Devil May Cry will perform one stylish in ULTRA KILL combos, doing all but first-person.
This combo system at a high tempo game has it virtually endless ways to play around. You can backbeat enemy bullets, Dashed and Slide, use a grappling hook, double and perform wall jumps, reflecting a coin balls, stomp on enemies... and combine all this also clever and skillful.
Many levels, infinitely deep mechanics, a great soundtrack, massive replay value — despite retro look is ULTRA KILL gameplay from one of the most advanced shooters in recent years. The game has even in the Early Access even more content than do full-price games for all LCS. With every content update the game will be even bigger and better.
I come from the swarms not get out more. But this applies not only to me: If you go to the user reviews, ULTRA KILL is a 99% positive rating of the best games on Steam (via Twitter).
2 . Black Mesa — The legendary Half-Life in a New Light
Developer: Collective Crowbar | Publisher: Collective Crowbar | Platform: PC | Release: 2020
Steam Rating: extremely positive — 95% currently at approx 68,000 votes (via Steam)
Price: In the current Steam sale: €3,74 (normal price: €14.99)
Trailer
Black Mesa is a fan remake of the legendary shooter Half-Life. It is so good that it is even seen by Valve developers as the best version of the classic (via Gamer). Whether you want to reminisce or the shooter Half-Life icon you want to experience for the first time — Black Mesa is in any case a fantastic game.
Because the gameplay of Half-Life just as much fun today as in 1999, Black Mesa plays excellent. The remanufactured graphics is the most significant improvement in this project. Connoisseurs of the original will appreciate in particular the significantly improved Men level.
3 . BPM: Bullets Per Minute — shooter action as a rhythm game
Developer: Awe Interactive | Publisher: Awe Interactive | Platform: PC, PS4, Xbox One | Release: 2020
Steam Rating: Very positive — 95% currently at approx 6,500 votes (via Steam)
Price: In the current Steam sale: €8,39 (regular price: €16,79)
Trailer
Whether you shoot, reload or evades: All what you in BPM: makes Bullets per minute, must pass the beat of the music. So Nachladeanimationen to a multi-part act of multiple inputs at the right rhythm requires. That just makes weapons such as the revolver very fun if every one of the six balls to the beat of heavy metal music is pushed into the cylinder.
A great inspiration for BPM: Bullets per minute is the Rogue lite Crypt of the Necromancer. Thus, BPM is itself a Rogue lite. With multiple unlockable characters to play as by several shorter levels. Their available equipment is distributed thus in every new game session at random. A death also forces you to start over. From beginning to end boss you need about an hour — a perfect length for a Rogue lite run. The invites to new attempts without frustrating quickly.
4 . Bright Memory: Infinite — combos in full ray tracing splendor
Developer: FIND studio | Publisher: FIND studio, Play ism | Platform: PC, soon Xbox Series | Release: 2021
Steam Rating: Very positive — 93% currently at approx 24,000 votes (via Steam)
Price: In the current Steam sale: €15,11 (regular price: €16,79)
Trailer
Bright Memory: Infinite has at first and even second glance some similarities to ULTRA KILL: Both games rely on rapid combo action where melee attacks are just as important as firearms. But despite these similarities, there are some exciting differences so that both games would be worth it. If ULTRA KILL Devil May Quake is, this game Ninja Garden meets DOOM.
It is also worth the graphics of Bright Memory: Infinite. Which is impressive detailed and realistic, even Ray tracing is involved. In case you Schwartz with the retro look of ULTRA KILL, the game is the next best choice. Much joy do well precisely the level at which one does not shoot but creeps, drive a car or jumping over flying aircraft.
Unfortunately, the game with about 2 – 3 hours Play time is very short. But it's great fun even for repeated play through because you score a kind of gets to the conclusion, to stimulate, to improve.
5 . Cruelty Squad — Immersion despite hideous graphics
Developer: Consumer Products Soft | Publisher: Consumer Products Soft | Platform: PC | Release: 2021
Steam Rating: extremely positive — 97% currently at approx 5,800 votes (via Steam)
Price: In the current Steam Sale: €11.75 (regular price: €16,79)
Trailer
Cruelty Squad is unquestionably the most disgusting game what you play can. The graphics are corrosive attack on the senses, the music is unbearable, the characters in every way. But there is a reason: the game commented cynical violence and ugliness of shooters, while it makes the violence and ugliness insanely fun in the same breath. Even if it may be hard to believe: I recommend Cruelty Squad wholeheartedly.
The surreal and brilliant Cruelty Squad is therefore a so-called Immersive Sim. YouTuber Super Bunny hop describes it appropriate as a mixture of Hitman and Quake (via YouTube). Each level provides players with plenty of space and a list of people that you need to kill. How you do it is completely up to you.
What can you do exactly her is also not always clear, thanks to the graphic. Thus, even the most experienced gamers need to 're-learn' to play in certain dimensions. And because you have to understand in a process only Cruelty Squad, the game can develop its deep and fun mechanics.
The graphics are also part of the biting satire of capitalism in the game. Cruelty Squad is therefore an excellent 'antidote' for those who have had enough of Christmas kitsch.
6 . Devil Daggers — Arcade Horror addicting
Developer: South | Publisher: South | Platform: PC | Release: 2021
Steam rating: Extremely positive — 96% for currently about 5,100 ratings (via Steam)
Price: in the current Steam-Sale: €3,19 (normal price: €3,99)
Trailer:
Devil Dagger is the cheapest game of the list, and with the least content. There is a level, a weapon, just a handful of opponents, no music and a timer. Nevertheless, I have played it almost 100 hours. This is due to the high addict factor that this arcade horror game unfolds.
The game takes place on a completely flat arena, where you will be attacked with a continuous time of more and more monsters. The goal is just as long as possible to survive — the success is measured in seconds. It quickly remembers that for survival in addition to improvisation arts, especially strategic thinking is required under high pressure.
So Devil Dagger quickly brings you into a fascinating trance. The outstanding sound design also contributes. My previous record can only be over parted for a second is an incredible sense of success. I want to have this again as often as possible.
7 . Dusk — The best modern retro shooter
Developer: David Szymanski | Publisher: New Blood Interactive | Platform: PC, Mac, Switch | Release: 2018
Steam rating: Extremely positive — 98% for currently about 12,700 ratings (via Steam)
Price: in the current Steam-Sale: €8,49 (normal price: €16,99)
Trailer:
The Publisher New Blood Interactive specializes in publishing modern shooters with the classic gameplay mechanics from the FPS of the 1990s. Dusk is unquestionably one of the best boomer shooters — which are called so because they should fall out the old people from the generation of the baby boomer.
So if you have nostalgic feelings for the Dooms, Quakes and Duke Nukes from the past century, Dusk is your best choice. But also those who missed this type of game should look at Dusk: thanks to its magnificent level design, fantastic weapons, many creative levels, clever secrets and a great atmosphere, dusk is one of the best shooters that you can play up to date.
The Steam Reviews — Outstanding 98% of the players have left a positive review.
8th. Gunfire Reborn — Roguelite-Borderlands with sweet animals
Developer: Duty Games | Publisher: Duty Games | Platform: PC, on consoles in 2022 | Release: 2021
Steam rating: Very positive — 94% for about 56,800 ratings (via Steam)
Price: in the current Steam-Sale: €12,59 (normal price: €16.79)
Trailer:
Gunfire Reborn is a very fun rogue lite looter shooter. In a charming comic look, you choose one of 6 cuddly animal heroes who have their own strengths and build possibilities. As for Regulates typical, you start in Gunfire Reborn with every game session from the front. With randomly selected level layouts, weapons, skill options and opponents you fight to the final opponent — if you are successful or if you die, it starts again from scratch.
The gameplay loop from the game is very fun. Despite a pretty crisp level of difficulty, it always feels fairly. The game speed is generally a bit more comfortable than in other action-roguelites, but the game is still one fun. The high addiction factor and the permanent upgrades that you can buy will invite you to many game sessions. In addition, the game is also playable in Loop mode with up to 4 players.
Even if I hold Request for the better Roguelite-FPS (later more), Gunfire Reborn is a great game, which I warmly recommend. For a deeper view of the game I recommend the article of the colleague Irina Moritz:
New shooter Gunfire Reborn has a 94% rating on Steam — what makes him so good?
9 . Receiver 2 — The game with the realistic weapons mechanics
Developer: Wolf ire Games | Publisher: Wolf ire Games | Platform: PC | Release: 2020
Steam scan: very positive — 91% for currently about 1,800 ratings (via Steam)
Price: in the current Steam-Sale: €13,43 (normal price: €16,79)
Trailer:
Are you still remembering QWOP — the famous browser game where you need to control every joint of a marathon runner separately? Receiver 2 follows a similar philosophy, only instead of the legs of a runner you control here the run of a weapon. In other shooters, only 3 buttons accept all functions that need to shoot: left mouse out shoots, right mouse button aims, R loads. Not so in Receiver 2:
Each single function of your weapon is controlled by a separate button. The magazine must be released and then removed, each ball will be reloaded individually, malfunctions must be detected exactly and treated properly. This ensures realism, which is self-like itself in VR games. This gimmick becomes a tactical and mechanical challenge every FPS naturalness.
Although the gameplay is slower than any other game on this list, but the intensity of a single fired ball is high in receiver 2, as in many other playing a final boss.
10 . Request — The current best rogue lite shooter
Developer: SYRUP STUDIOS | Publisher: Makeup Studios | Platform: PC, Soon Xbox One & Series | Release: 2020
Steam rating: Very positive — 94% for currently about 2,400 ratings (via Steam)
Price: in the current Steam-Sale: €10,91 (normal price: €16,79)
Trailer:
So good Gunfire Reborn too is: For me Request is not only the better Rogue lite shooter, but one of the best regulates on the market. The two games are very similar at first glance, but both are regulates with Perma-Death mechanics, both have a comic look, both have a loot shooter gameplay such as Borderlands, both have optional co-op.
Request also serves another niche as Gunfire Reborn. The game speed is significantly higher in Request — with some exercise and experience is much faster action possible than even in the trailer. The movement here spurs you to stay in motion and jump from one opponent to the next. Higher rewards with fast level finish also awaken the ambition to discover the inner speed runner.
Request is still in the Early Access and therefore has not completely exhausted his insanely high potential. But already what is already in the game has deserved your attention and time absolutely.
Bonus: Game Pass
This recommendation is a bonus recommendation because I would like to recommend several games, which would cost about €20 individually. But they are all included in the Game Pass. This is available on PC and Xbox consoles and costs €12.99 in the most expensive version. The Game Pass only for PC or Xbox costs €9.99. Both variants are also cancellable monthly.
If you do not have the Game Pass yet, Mango has a perfect tip for you: because you get the Game Pass currently cheap and can save money.
With the Game Pass Ultimate you can also play selected games about the cloud — you only Dow a compatible browser on the device of your choice. If you want to use your tablet or mobile phone with Android or Apple, I also recommend a controller. As long as the via Bluetooth can be connected, this should be technically easy.
My Shooter Recommendations in the Game Pass (sorted alphabetically) :
Doom (Console, PC, Cloud) Doom Eternal (Console, PC, Cloud) Enter the Dungeon (Console, PC, Cloud) Halo Infinite (Console, PC, Cloud) Prey (Console, PC, Cloud) Prods (PC) Titan case 2 (console [requires Game Pass Ultimate], PC)
So if you only want a large selection from AAA shooters for the Christmas days, the Game Pass is an excellent option.
These are the 10 sing player shooters that I can highly recommend to the cold season. Do you have another recommendation that you have not listed here? Is a game from this list maybe even your darling? Let me know in the comments — I always love to read something like that.
